According to recent reports, superstar Demi Lovato has left Scooter Braun’s SB Projects and is now seeking a new manager. For those who may not know, the singer has been working with the music executive since 2019.
Demi Lovato Parts Ways with Scooter Braun
According to recent reports, Lovato split from Braun last month. This split comes after the inaccurate rumors about Justin Bieber leaving SB Projects. Although this departure has yet to be confirmed, a source has stated that “the singer is grateful for her time with the management, but she now plans to trek a different direction.”
Despite the bad news, the decision to end the professional relationship was said to be “mutual and amicable.”
Apparently, conversations are now taking place for Lovato, but she has yet to sign with new management. Such circumstances are undeniably bad timing for the singer, who’s set to release a deluxe album Revamped this September. Basically, Lovato has reimagined her smash hits earlier in her career and converted the same into their rock versions.
During her tenure with Braun, Lovato was able to release two albums, Holy Fvck and Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over. Furthermore, as an artist that struggled with substance abuse and mental health, Lovato considers herself lucky that Braun supported her with her advocacies.
Currently, Scooter Braun remains as a manager to various big stars in the industry. Some of his artists include Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Tori Kelly, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Dan + Shay.
Lovato and Braun are reportedly in good terms even after the separation. However, neither Lovato nor Braun have said anything publicly about the issue.
Ex-Manager Notoriously Known for His Rift with Taylor Swift
Braun is not at all an unfamiliar personality. Aside from the fact that he manages a roster of superstars, he’s also been involved in a massive controversy with Taylor Swift.
The music mega-manager obtained a notorious status after acquiring Big Machine Label Group, the owner of the master recordings of Swift’s past six albums. Then, Swift accused Braun for being an “incessant, manipulative bully” for refusing to sell her masters.
Consequently, the “Love Story” singer was robbed from the creative freedom to fully possess her own songs. This issue has given rise to non-stop public feuds, with millions of Swift’s fans coming for her defense.
Furthermore, Braun is also associated with Swift’s vendetta against Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West. For those who may not know, Kanye released his song “Famous” in 2016, containing the lyrics “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b*tch famous.”
Lovato’s former manager worked with Kanye during this time. People were thus convinced that Braun has something to do with the content.
