Katy Perry has reportedly been working on her eighth studio album, and it could be coming soon. An insider called the upcoming new project “some of her most vulnerable work in years.”
Katy Perry Has Been Working on Her New Album
Sources told The Sun that Perry has been working on a new album while traveling the world this year on her Lifetimes Tour. It sounds like the project could be a return to form for the singer after the negative reaction to her most recent album, 143.
“She’s been working on it all the way through the tour and lyrically it’s some of her most vulnerable work in years,” a source told the outlet. “After 143 didn’t go as planned Katy has overhauled her thinking for this record and is going back to what she does best.”
Perry has reportedly been working with producers Cirkut and Greg Kurstin, who have been behind hits by Lady Gaga and Lily Allen, respectively. The singer has apparently “grabbed moments in the studio” during her tour this year.
Katy Perry’s eighth studio album will apparently address her split from fiancé Orlando Bloom, which was confirmed in July. In November, Perry dropped a new single called “Bandaids,” which fans believe is about her relationship with Bloom.
“It’s no secret she’s had a tough time in the spotlight recently and Katy has channelled that into her music,” a source told The Sun. “She’s written multiple songs about her split from Orlando Bloom, but it’s still up in the air as to which ones will make the cut — especially as she’s now dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.”
As for when fans can expect to hear the new record, the source shared that it will likely be released in the first half of 2026, adding that “her team hope it’s Katy’s moment to shine again.”
