Gabby Barrett will be honored at CMT’s Artists of the Year awards show this fall. The Season 16 American Idol finalist is one of five country artists that will be recognized for their success this year. Barrett has brought a fresh new perspective to country music while balancing motherhood.
Kane Brown, Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Stapleton, and Luke Combs are also going to be honored during the Oct. 13 broadcast. This 90-minute ceremony will take place at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Other featured celebrity presenters and more performers have yet to be announced. Last year’s ceremony went virtual and paid tribute to frontline workers at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A press release stated that the artists are being recognized because they “dominated the last 12 months in country music, leading across all CMT platforms, scoring chart-topping albums and singles, while simultaneously finding creative ways to connect with fans and meet the personal and professional challenges posed by the pandemic.”
Gabby Barrett’s Success Leads to CMT’s Artists of the Year Honor
Barrett took over pretty much all major radio stations this year with “The Good Ones.” The song topped the U.S. Country Sales chart, her second No. 1 song after “I Hope.” She already made history as the first female artist to top Billboard’s Country Streaming Songs chart with a debut single. The 21-year-old was named the New Female Artist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Barrett will be touring with Thomas Rhett starting next week. Tour dates go on through October. She welcomed her first child with her husband Cade Foehner in January. After becoming a mom, Barrett scored nine Billboard Music Award nominations. Through all of her musical success, she said that being a mom is her “top priority.”
To top off all of her tremendous achievements, Barrett just released the music video for “Footprints On The Moon.” This song is everything you need to get you through your Friday. The music video features Foehner on the guitar. The message behind the song is that you can do anything, even if people doubt you. It’s exactly the kind of motivating anthem that we would expect out of Barrett.
American Idol has produced so many huge country superstars over the years. Barrett is well on her way to following in the footsteps of Carrie Underwood, one of the greatest in the game. This young country star is already unstoppable in the beginning stages of her career.
