In a heartwarming display of admiration Adam Lambert has responded to Lil Nas X’s remarks about him, emphasizing the impact they have had on the music industry and the LGBTQ+ community. Nine months after Lil Nas X expressed his appreciation for Lambert’s trailblazing efforts, Lambert expressed his gratitude and support for the bold and brave artist.

Adam Lambert Says He’s “Flattered” By Lil Nas X’s Comments

During an episode of Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live After Show on July 11, 2023, Lambert shared his reaction to Lil Nas X’s comments. When a viewer asked about his response, Lambert openly acknowledged that he felt deeply honored that Lil Nas X knew who he was.

He described Lil Nas X as a rock star and praised his audacity and courage. Lambert’s admiration for Lil Nas X is not new; he has previously spoken highly of the “Old Town Road” singer in various interviews.

Lil Nas X’s appreciation for Lambert dates back to October 2022 when he previously shared how instrumental Lambert’s support has been to him. Expressing gratitude for the doors opened by Lambert and others like him, Lil Nas X highlighted the significance of their contributions to the music industry.

Andy Cohen also expressed his admiration for Lil Nas X’s acknowledgment of Lambert’s influence. Cohen, aware of the challenges Lambert faced in the past, recalled the controversy surrounding Lambert’s on-stage kiss with a male keyboardist during the 2009 American Music Awards.

Lambert’s groundbreaking act was met with backlash and even a ban from ABC. Cohen commended Lil Nas X for recognizing the historical context and how Lambert’s actions paved the way for artists like himself. Lil Nas X’s similar kiss during the 2021 BET Awards made headlines, demonstrating that progress has normalized previously taboo acts.

Adam Lambert Helped Promote LGBTQ+ Rights

Lambert’s success extends beyond his time on American Idol. As a Grammy-nominated artist, he has released hit songs such as “Whataya Want From Me” and toured as the lead singer of Queen. Lambert has also ventured into entrepreneurship, collaborating with Orly on a nail polish line.

Moreover, he has been a vocal advocate and role model for the LGBTQ+ community, using his platform to promote acceptance and support. In 2019, Lambert established The Feel Something Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding LGBTQ+ human rights initiatives.

In interviews, Lambert has discussed the challenges he faced due to homophobia early in his career. Refusing to let discrimination hinder his success, Lambert strives to inspire others and create change. Rejecting the notion of a “gay agenda,” he sees his purpose as empowering individuals to embrace their true selves and combat self-deprecation.
