The artist with the most votes from each team automatically moved on to the Top 9, while the coaches got to choose one artist to save. Then one artist from each team had the chance to compete for a Wildcard Instant Save vote.

VOTE: WHO’S YOUR FAVORITE TO WIN ‘THE VOICE’ SEASON 18?

You may have noticed lower video quality among some of the artists during the show. That’s because The Voice set itself apart from American Idol‘s at-home shows by airing live results as well as a live vote. It’s definitely a trade-off.

Wildcard Instant Save

Out of the remaining artists who weren’t voted through by America or chosen by their coach, the artist with the most votes had the chance to perform for the Instant Save. Viewers voted in real time to choose one of the following artists to move on.

Team Blake: Joanna Serenko

Joanna performed “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight” by James Taylor. Blake asked America to “do the right thing” and vote Joanna through.

Team Legend: Mandi Castillo

Mandi performed “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper. John called the performance “beautiful,” “soulful,” “heartfelt,” and “perfectly executed.”

Team Kelly: Cedrice

Cedrice performed “Breathin” by Ariana Grande. Kelly called her a “star,” complimenting her tone and saying she can’t wait to buy her record.

Team Nick: Michael Williams

Michael performed “To Love Somebody” by the Bee Gees. Nick wrote “Wow! Star!” on a board as a callback to the blind auditions, saying Michael deserves to be in the Top 9.

Viewers had five minutes to vote for the artist (or artists) they wanted to save. At the end of the night, host Carson Daly announced Joanna Serenko as the wildcard artist in the Top 9! Do you agree with America’s choice? Let us know in the comments.
