Julia Gargano

Before her performance, Julia gave a tour of her house, including the room where she performs. She chose to sing “New York State of Mind” by Billy Joel to pay tribute to New York City. Luke said he was “speechless,” calling it the best performance of the season so far. Katy agreed, saying Julia has grown as a singer.

Jovin Webb

Jovin said life has been “chaotic” balancing American Idol with fatherhood. He chose to sing “Voodoo” by Allen Stone to represent his hometown of New Orleans. Lionel called it “magic,” while Katy said she felt like she was in a bar in New Orleans having a dirty martini as he performed.

Grace Leer

Grace returned to her hometown in California for quarantine, and earned an outpouring of support from her community. For her latest performance, Grace chose to perform “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz. Katy said she had never heard Grace’s voice sound like that. Luke said she has a “big voice.”

Jonny West

Jonny hugged his girlfriend, Margie Mays, when he heard that he had made it into the Top 10. He performed “Faithfully” by Journey on the keyboard. Luke said he never seems like he’s forcing anything when he sings, and praised him for staying in his style. Katy compared him to Alejandro Aranda.

Sophia James

Sophia moved back with her family for quarantine, and they’ve been playing music together. She chose to sing “In My Room” by the Beach Boys in her actual room. Lionel said she found her “sweet spot.” Katy said Sophia will have a career in music whether or not she wins the show.

Arthur Gunn

Arthur is spending his quarantine with family cooking traditional food from his home country of Nepal. He performed “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver on his porch. Katy praised him for connecting with the camera, while Luke gave him props for infusing reggae into the song.

Just Sam

Sam decided to quarantine in California to protect her grandmother in Harlem. She called her grandma to deliver the exciting news about being in the Top 10, and chose to sing “Grandma’s Hands” by Bill Withers. Luke complimented her range, while Katy Perry said it reminded her of being in church.

Dillon James

Dillon has been spending his quarantine writing songs and spending time with his family. He chose to sing “Yesterday” by The Beatles for his latest performance. Lionel encouraged him to continue being himself, while Katy said she wanted him to give more “breath” to the song.

Francisco Martin

Francisco said quarantine has been hard as his mom works as a nurse on the front lines. He says keeping busy with American Idol helps with his anxiety. He sang “Falling Like the Stars” by James Arthur. The performance made Katy cry, while Luke called Francisco a “diamond in the rough.”

Judges’ Save: Makayla Phillips

Makayla has been home schooled since she was in second grade, so she’s used to being home with her family. Her dad is a firefighter who is still going to work. She chose to sing “The House That Built Me” by Miranda Lambert. Lionel called her a “star,” while Katy said she was “leaning into” her performance.

Did your favorite make it through? Do you agree with the judges’ choice? Who are you voting for this week? You have until 9 am ET on Monday morning to make your decision.
