The Voice AU has teamed up with the network Channel 7 and streaming network 7+ to create the new series, The Voice Generations. This series will air for one week only later this year on these networks. The Voice Generations premiere the nation’s greatest voices from each generation in The Voice arena.

The Voice AU Shares Spin-Off Sneak Peek

The Voice AU shared a sneak peek at what this week-long event will show. The sneak peek features groups like Jim and Sasha Allen from The Voice U.S. The video shows parents singing with their children on the stage. Producers of the show have also shared that grandparents, siblings, aunt, uncles, and blended families will be featured on top of the parent-child format. It appears as if this format is only welcome to groups at this time.

The coaches on this series are the beloved coaches on the Australian series. The panel features Rita Ora, Keith Urban, Guy Sebastian, and Jessica Mauboy. The Voice Generations will also be hosted by The Voice AU‘s Sonia Kruger. Within the preview, Ora shares that this series is the reason she came back to Australia.

This week-long season will feature blind auditions, battle rounds, and head-to-head face offs to claim the prize. As of right now, there has been no announcement of what the winners of the new series will get. I’d assume they would receive the same as the winner of The Voice AU, since it’s a direct spin-off. If that is the case, The Voice Generations singers are battling for $100,000 in prize money and a recording contract with EMI. EMI is an Australian record label that has signed celebrities like Keith Urban, 5 Seconds of Summer, The Beatles, and others.

The network currently has not shared an exact air date for this series. Instead, they have stated that it will be on Channel 7 and 7 Plus in 2022. This series began pre production sometime in September, so I’m sure the show will soon release tickets for the audience.

Why Was The Voice Generations Created?

The Voice Generations is a branch off of the australian branch of the franchise. The Voice AU soared in the 2021 ratings and they can’t wait until their next season. Until the next season comes, the series has produced this special to keep viewership up.

“This has been an extraordinary season of The Voice [AU] in 2021. We thank the Seven Network for their incredible support for the brand,” said David Mott, iTV Studios Australia CEO and managing director in September. “It has truly demonstrated its strength, resonating with Australian audiences with such incredible ratings for every episode. The season showcased phenomenal singers with spectacular performances, and our warmest congratulations to Bella Taylor Smith who captured the hearts of all Australians.”

After talking about the series success, he mentioned that The Voice Generations had already been in pre production. In a separate statement, the network’s director of programming shared that this spin-off will add a new dimension to the show’s format. In the same statement, they shared that The Voice AU will be back on television after the Olympics, since they’ve released a sneak peek we can assume The Voice Generations will air in January or early February.
