Chandler Kinney Earns First Perfect Score on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ 500th Episode
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Dancing with the Stars Season 33 returned on Tuesday night for the show’s 500th episode. The remaining couples paid homage to iconic routines from past seasons, in addition to participating in an “Instant Dance Challenge.” Chandler Kinney earned the first perfect score of the season.
Dancing with the Stars Celebrates 500th Episode
During Tuesday’s show, Chandler Kinney and her partner Brandon Armstrong earned the first perfect score of the season — twice! First, they danced an Argentine Tango to “Para Te” by Appart, inspired by Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough in Season 16.
Hough, who is a judge now, said he actually preferred their version of the dance to his and Pickler’s. He called the routine “smooth as silk.” The judges gave Chandler and Brandon a perfect score of 30 for the dance.
Later, they were challenged to prepare a Cha Cha to “Apple” by Charlie XCX within just a few minutes. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said they were “owning the dance floor tonight.” Hough said they “ate that and left no crumbs.” The judges once again gave them a perfect score of 30 for the routine.
Chandler and Brandon were the only pair to earn a perfect score on Tuesday. In second place for the night were Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson, who earned a 28 for their Contemporary to “Work Song” by Hozier, inspired by Riker Lynch and Allison Holker in Season 20. Their Instant Dance Rumba to “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish earned a score of 27.

Who Was Eliminated at the End of the Show?
Unfortunately, one couple had to be eliminated at the end of Tuesday’s show. The elimination was decided by combining the judges’ scores with votes from viewers at home. Ultimately, Dwight Howard and his partner Daniella Karagach were announced as the eliminated couple.
During the show, Dwight and Daniella danced an Argentine Tango to “Santa María (del Buen Ayre)” by Gotan Project, inspired by James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess in Season 23. The dance earned a combined score of 26 from the judges.
The pair also performed an Instant Dance Paso Doble to “Victorious” by Panic! at the Disco. They received the lowest score of the Instant Dance Challenge round, with 22 points. This, combined with the number of votes they received from viewers, wasn’t enough to keep them in the competition.
Next week marks the Season 33 Semifinals, with just five couples left in the competition. They will perform two dances each for their chance to move on. Who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments below, and tune in Tuesday night on ABC or Disney+ for a new episode.
