‘The Masked Singer’ On Fox Obliterates All Talent Shows In Ratings
Reading Time: 1 minutes
We already knew The Masked Singer on Fox was a hit, but it turns out it’s an even BIGGER one than originally reported!
The initially reported ratings had the series premiere at a 3.0 with 9.4 million viewers. That was already amazing, but now with Live+3 day calculations factored in, the show now has a rating of 3.9 and 12.3 million viewers.
With the initial ratings, last Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer was reported as the highest-rated unscripted debut in three years. With the Live+3 day numbers, it now holds the titles of biggest unscripted ratings boost and highest-rated unscripted debut in SEVEN years.
This is obviously a huge victory for FOX. It’s a big deal for a new show – especially one with a concept that hasn’t really been seen in the American market before – to best other programs that have had large followings for years. Case in point: The Masked Singer‘s premiere obliterated the first episode of talent show giant America’s Got Talent‘s new spin-off AGT: The Champions by 2.1 in the ratings (3.9 vs. 1.8) and about 2.4 million viewers.
It remains to be seen how much of this massive opening audience The Masked Singer will be able to retain throughout the rest of its inaugural season, but this was obviously a very promising start for the program!
