Ahead of The Voice Season 27 premiere on Monday night, the show has shared a video of this season’s coaches (Adam Levine, John Legend, Michael Bublé, and Kelsea Ballerini) teaming up to perform “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John.
The Voice Season 27 Coaches Sing ‘Tiny Dancer’
For the coaches’ performance, they gathered around a piano, which was played by Legend while all four of them took turns singing the classic song. They wore coordinating black outfits for the occasion, with Legend sporting a sparkly jacket and Ballerini rocking leather boots.
The performance was filmed in front of a live audience, with fans cheering and holding up lights as the coaches sang. All four of them had opportunities to show off their unique vocal talents. The stage was full of fog and pyrotechnics to add to the excitement of their team-up.
This season is a big deal, as it marks the return of longtime coach Adam Levine after he left the show in 2019, and it’s also the first season as a coach for Kelsea Ballerini. John Legend is returning to the show after taking Season 26 off, and Michael Bublé is back for his second season after winning last year with artist Sofronio Vasquez.
It’s fitting that the Season 27 coaches performed “Tiny Dancer,” since that’s the song that Levine sang back in 2015 when he pretended to audition for the show. All three of his fellow coaches at the time (Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, and Blake Shelton) turned around for him.
Now Levine is back on the show, and he was the first coach to start singing “Tiny Dancer” in the new performance. It might not have been intentional on the show’s part, but it does make it feel like everything is coming full circle.
Watch Levine’s comeback season of The Voice when it premieres on Monday, February 3, on NBC.
