The Masked Singer ratings are in, and it’s already a winner for FOX!
In the days and weeks leading up to the show’s premiere, the general consensus seemed to be that the concept was a little bit confusing, but also quite intriguing. Turns out this combination spiked a lot of curiosity in viewers!
9.4 million people tuned in for the premiere, which turned out to be television’s highest rated unscripted premiere in seven years with a 3.0 rating! It also marked the highest Wednesday ratings in the past couple of years for FOX, as well as the strongest series launch for any show in the 2018-2019 TV season.
I’m thrilled the show had such a strong start, but I have to wonder if they’ll be able to keep the momentum going all season long. Like I said, a lot of people seem to have tuned in just to check out the concept, and I’m not sure how long it will be until the novelty wears off for them. We will be seeing six new contenders next week, but after that it will be the same people for the rest of the season (albeit dwindling in numbers each episode).
Hopefully The Masked Singer will keep audiences invested like the original Korean version has done and its ratings will remain strong throughout the season!
