The Howard Stern Show is reportedly facing possible cancellation after almost 20 years on SiriusXM. The former America’s Got Talent judge’s contract is up later this year, and Sirius apparently doesn’t intend to pay him what he wants to stay on the air.
The Howard Stern Show May Be Canceled After 20 Years
Howard Stern has been a radio host for decades, known for his celebrity interviews and controversial persona. Since 2006, he’s hosted The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM. According to The U.S. Sun, Stern’s long-running show could be canceled later this year.
“Stern’s contract is up in the fall and while Sirius is planning to make him an offer, they don’t intend for him to take it,” a source told the outlet. “Sirius and Stern are never going to meet on the money he is going to want. It’s no longer worth the investment.”
Sirius may strike a deal with Stern to keep his library of past episodes upon his departure, but there is apparently “no way they can keep paying his salary.” The source compared it to the recent cancelation of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on CBS.

Could Politics Be the Reason for the Cancelation?
“If Sirius isn’t going to give Stern a good offer, I don’t think it would have anything to do with his ratings,” another source told The U.S. Sun. “It’s more likely everything to do with the political climate.”
Stern has spoken out against President Donald Trump and famously interviewed former Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election. Neither Stern nor SiriusXM responded to The Sun‘s request for comment on the situation.
A source told the Daily Mail that Stern might end up opting for a one-to-two-year contract to remain on the air a little longer. However, another source claimed that the 71-year-old has been thinking about retirement.
