The Voice has officially returned to NBC for its next round, The Playoff. Differing from those in the past, this season’s Playoffs Rounds are pre recorded. Within each Playoff round episode, two teams will performa against one another. During the first round of the Knockouts Reba McEntire’s team performed alongside Michael Bublé’s team.
Reba McEntire Chooses Surprising Country Singer for Finale Spot
The night began with Team Reba member Aaron Nicolas. Aaron returned to the stage with country hit, “Beer Never Broke my Heart” by Jonathan Singleton, Luke Combs, and Randy Montana. It was clear that coaches were pleased with his performance.
Next up from Team Reba was Carson Callback recipient Ryan Mitchell. Ryan stayed true to his edgy side, singing “Undressed” by Sombr in this round. Up next was Peyton Kyle, who impressed in the Knockout Round by switching up his genres. In this round, Peyton sang James Bay’s “Hold Back The River.”
The final Team Reba member to perform on night one of the Playoffs was Aubrey Nicole. In this round, Aubrey sang “Black Velvet” by Alannah Myles. All comments for Aubrey’s performance were positive. McEntire then got to choose one artist to move on into the Finale.
After considering, McEntire chose Aubrey as the artist continuing into the Finale. Remaining singers can now be voted upon via America’s vote. Of the six remaining singers, only one will continue into the Finale.
Michael Bublé Eliminates Impressive Kid Singer
The first singer for Team Bublé was powerhouse vocalist Jazz McKenzie. She performed “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey. Typically, it’s a bold move to perform such a well-known song, but Jazz did a great job of making it her own on the stage.
Up next was another powerhouse vocalist, Trinity. The singer, who impressed with Whitney Houston’s “I’m Your Baby Tonight” in The Knockout Rounds, performed “Barracuda” by Heart. Then, Rob Cole performed “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack.
Finally, Team Bublé’s youngest contestant, Max Chambers took the stage. The 14 year old sang “Change Can Come” by Sam Cook. Although this was yet another strong performance from the teen, his fate on the show is now in the hands of America.
Bublé ultimately chose Jazz as his artist that will represent his team in the Finale. Luckily for fans, America’s vote will send one remaining artist into the Finale. Voting is now open, be sure to get your vote in before 7 a.m. ET on Tuesday, December 2.
The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, December 8 at 9 p.m. ET for the next set of the Playoffs. Next week, fans will see Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg’s teams on the stage.
