Showbird Unmasked on ‘The Masked Singer’s ‘Footloose’ Night
Reading Time: 2 minutes
The Masked Singer Season 12 returned on Wednesday night for an episode themed to the movie Footloose, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The remaining members of Group A performed, and Showbird was unmasked as a former co-star of panelist Ken Jeong.
Showbird Unmasked on The Masked Singer
During Wednesday’s episode, Showbird took the stage to sing “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” by Deniece Williams. Although she sounded great, Showbird unfortunately didn’t earn enough votes to move on to the next round.
That meant that Showbird had to be unmasked. Final guesses from the panel included Taraji P. Henson and Sheila E. However, only Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke were correct in guessing that it was Jeong’s former Community co-star Yvette Nicole Brown under the mask.
This is the second week in a row that Jeong has been correct in his final guess, as last week he correctly predicted that Leaf Sheep would turn out to be NFL legend John Elway. This week’s reveal was extra special, as he and Brown are good friends.
“This is a love letter to Ken,” Brown shared after her unmasking. “They’ve been asking me to do the show for years. Singing is my first love, and it’s hard when it didn’t work out, so I always said no. But for you, I said I would come and do this for you.”

Who Else Performed This Week?
Showbird wasn’t the only contestant to perform a song from the Footloose soundtrack on Wednesday’s show. The other members of Group A also took the stage to give their best performances. That includes Ship, who performed “Almost Paradise” by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson.
Ship also revealed that they’re three degrees away from Footloose star Kevin Bacon. The panel was impressed by Ship’s performance, guessing that everyone from Kate Bush to Sheryl Crow could be under the mask.
Woodpecker also took the stage on Wednesday night, performing “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler. Guesses about Woodpecker’s identity from the panel included Willow Smith, Letitia Wright, and Regina King.
The final performance of the night came from the three Buffalos, who sang “Waiting for a Girl Like You” by Foreigner. Guesses from the panel about who might be under the masks included Bell Biv DeVoe and Boyz II Men.
Next week, the remaining members of Group A will return to the stage for a night themed to the “Soundtrack of My Life.” Tune in Wednesday night at 8/7c on FOX.
