Audacy recently hosted its 11th annual We Can Survive concert at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, for its mental health initiative, I’m Listening. The event featured performances from some famous names, including American Idol alums Benson Boone and Haven Madison.
Haven Madison Performs at Audacy’s We Can Survive Concert
The We Can Survive concert featured performances from Justin Timberlake, New Kids on the Block, Tate McRae, and Khalid. Also in attendance were American Idol alums Benson Boone (Season 19) and Haven Madison (Season 21).
Madison told Audacy’s Mike Adam that she has taken “so much inspiration” from Boone, who quit Idol to pursue his music career and has achieved success in the years since. She said of their encounter at the event, “He stopped and turned around to come say hi to me.” Madison called him “such a genuine human being.”
The singer also talked about her relationship with singer Lainey Wilson, who is on the same label as her. Wilson apparently gave Madison her number and offered to give her advice. As Madison said, “She’s one of the good ones, and I’m really grateful I have her.”
A portion of the proceeds from Saturday’s sold-out event went to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). One of the other performers at the concert was Benson Boone, who took the stage to perform songs such as “Beautiful Things” and “In the Stars.”
Boone competed on Season 19 of American Idol, but he chose to withdraw from the show to focus on his career. It paid off, because the singer gained popularity on social media and ended up signing a record deal. He released his debut album, Fireworks & Rollerblades, earlier this year, and even opened for Taylor Swift.
In a recent interview, former Idol judge Katy Perry joked that she wanted to tell Boone, “I told you so! My crystal ball is correct!” She added, “He’s the one that’s put in all the hard work and has all the talent and the adorable mustache.”
