Guess who’s back in the house! RuPaul’s DragCon returns to Los Angeles after a two-year hiatus. For the first time, DragCon will be three days starting at 10 a.m. on May 13, 2022. The event will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center and already flaunts a fierce lineup of queens.

What is RuPaul’s DragCon?

RuPaul’s DragCon is basically the Met Gala of drag. It’s a chance for fans to meet their favorite queens from the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise. There are also several panels that take place where the queens speak about specific topics and answer fan questions. Several stages are located throughout the venue for performances. Fans are able to visit merch tables and makeup booths to support their favorite queens.

This convention is to RuPaul’s Drag Race fans what New York Comic Con is to Marvel fans. DragCon was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. DragCon U.K. happened as planned in 2020 but was criticized for long queues to get into the venue. Some fans were never able to get inside at all.

DragCon first kicked off in 2015. There is typically one L.A. convention and one New York convention each year. RuPaul’s Drag Race has gained a cult following since it aired its first season in 2009. The massive turnout for this event is proof of the show’s impact.

How to Score Tickets

There are multiple ticket options for RuPaul’s DragCon. Kids 8 years old and under are free to attend. The single-day tickets are $50 each for Friday and Saturday. The Sunday tickets are a total steal at just $40 each. Coming from someone who considers themselves a master of New York Comic Con, Sunday is always the day with shorter lines.

For those who want to attend all three days, tickets are $70 each if they are purchased with the Squirrel Friend package. You must purchase tickets for four or more people at a time to be eligible for this discounted package. The regular three-day admission is $80 if you are purchasing tickets for less than four people.

VIP tickets are also still available. These ticket holders will gain early entry and includes access to VIP viewing areas for performances and priority lines at each of the queens’ booths. You will get an exclusive merch bundle and 15% off Official DragCon merch at the World of Wonder booth with this $250 ticket. At checkout, attendees will be giving the option to purchase an add-on for a special after-hours event.

Which ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Queens Will Be Attending?

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12, Season 13, and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 have all aired since the last RuPaul’s DragCon. The queens from each of these seasons will all most likely be in attendance. There are over 80 queens that have already been added to the roster of attendees so far.

Reigning Rupaul’s Drag Race All Stars winner Kylie Sonique Love will attend along with finalists Eureka and Ra’Jah O’Hara. Franchise favorites Kennedy Davenport, Milk, Mrs. Kasha Davis, and Alaska are also attending.

The only person that we can fully rule out being there is Season 2 winner, Tyra Sanchez. Tyra was banned from the event in 2018 after making violent threats to fellow contestants online.
