RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16 has just begun, but it’s already proving to be a strong force on television. The latest season recently debuted with the best TV ratings for any season premiere in the history of the franchise.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 Ushers In Highest-Rated Premiere

According to live + three-day Nielsen data, the January 5 premiere of season 16 climbed up to 4% versus the previous season. Furthermore, during the three-day viewing window, Drag Race ended with the highest-rated season premiere in six years among adults 18-49.

It pays noting, however, that this rating is close to season 15’s premiere’s rating. The premiere episode of season 16 score a 0.91. This is a 1% increase from season 15. With the 18-49 and 18-34 demographic, Drag Race was also hailed the top cable entertainment telecast of the day on Friday.

Season 16 marks the second for Drag Race at MTV after it moved from VH1 last season. It’s a fair decision, as MTV generally performs well in terms of viewership and demo ratings than VH1.
