Nicki Minaj Denies Begging to Join “Bang Bang” with Ariana Grande, Jessie J

Nicki Minaj went to Twitter with a big of rage after seeing Jessie J speaking about her in a recent interview. Jessie J mentioned the creation of “Bang Bang,” the 2014 hit pop song featuring Minaj and Ariana Grande. Jessie claims Minaj asked to join the track, but Minaj begs to differ.
The hit peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in 2014 and was constantly playing on the radio. In Jessie’s recent interview, she mentioned that she and Grande were the first to hear the song after Max Martin wrote it. Instead of fighting over who got to sing this hit, they decided to do it together.
“Then Nicki was played it in the studio and was like, ‘I’ve got to jump on this.’ We didn’t go to her and ask; she wanted to do it,” said Jessie.
After this statement, Jessie J mentioned how grateful she was to be on a track with Minaj and Grande. Clearly, she didn’t have any malicious intent toward Minaj during this interview.
Minaj Claps Back, Saying She Did Not Beg To Be Apart of “Bang Bang”
Minaj made sure fans were aware of what actually happened. She did this in probably the most Minaj style ever, which still took a few fans by surprise with how defensive she got.
“Babe @JessieJ I didn’t hear the song & ask 2get on it. The label asked me2get on it & paid me. How would I have heard the song? chiiille what am I the damn song monitor? Snoopin around for songs chile? This was said by another artist recently as well. Yallgotta stop LoveU” Minaj wrote on Twitter.
I guess this is why Minaj’s Twitter bio currently reads “Mrs. Petty.” She’s acting very petty about the situation considering the song came out in 2014. Some fans agreed that her attitude was a bit much in this post. They responded saying that she was being rude and bitter considering Jessie J didn’t mean any harm.
On the other hand, there were some pretty iconic replies that were absolutely hilarious. Fans replied with jokes about the situation since she was so quick to shut Jessie up over a seven year old song.
Some fans joked saying that there will not be another collaboration from this iconic trio now:
Regardless of collaborations in the future or not, we’re not sure why Minaj decided to respond publicly. It’s about a song that came out in 2014. I understand her trying to clarify the situation, but who really cares if you begged to be on a seven year old track or not?
Twitter Reacts to Jessie J Vs. Minaj
A separate fan replied stating that Jessie did do an interview that stated Minaj’s label asked her to be a part of the song. They also shared an Instagram link that contained a video of Jessie stating that Minaj’s label asked her to be apart of the song. Minaj quoted that tweet and further explained the situation.
“Chi. But the worst part about this is no1EVER asked me2get on “like a dude” & I have been obsessed w|that song since the min I heard it. I was doing promo in the UK & heard it on the radio. My artist Parker co wrote it. I would’ve gotten on that 1 for some pickle juice,” said Minaj.
The video evidence has since been deleted on Instagram, but Minaj seemed to have fully clarified the situation within this tweet. She was not asked to get on the song “like a dude,” but she had been obsessed since she originally heard it so she jumped on the opportunity when her label offered it to her.
