Gwen Stefani has spoken out about the rumors that she and her husband Blake Shelton are getting divorced. Stefani called the gossip “just lies,” although she did admit to “getting paranoid” about her relationship with the country star.
Gwen Stefani Denies Blake Shelton Divorce Rumors
Stefani appears on the cover of the new issue of Nylon magazine. As part of her interview with the outlet, the singer spoke about her marriage to Shelton, saying they’re “in love and have truly aligned values.” She added that “nobody can get to us.”
Recently, rumors have swirled that the couple (who tied the knot in 2021) were headed for divorce. Fans pointed to the fact that the couple spent New Year’s apart, as well as Stefani’s apparent deletion of posts featuring Shelton from her Instagram.
“You can say whatever you want to say about our relationship — I mean, a week ago we were getting divorced again or something,” Stefani said. “It’s just lies. The truth is the truth, and we know what that is.”
Stefani and Shelton met while coaching on The Voice, and they’ve released several songs together in their time as a couple. Most recently, they put out a track called “Purple Irises.” As Stefani told the magazine, “I’m always going to want to write music with Blake Shelton.”

Stefani Admits to ‘Getting Paranoid’ About Their Relationship
Stefani and Shelton aren’t getting divorced, but the No Doubt singer admitted to occasionally “getting paranoid” about their relationship. She addresses these concerns on “Purple Irises,” singing, “I got you / And you got me / And do you still think I’m pretty? / And are you happy?”
“I had been going through those times where you’re questioning: ‘Oh my gosh, am I just getting older? Am I cute?’” Stefani told Nylon. “In my own relationship, even though I know the truth of what’s happening today, you still create drama in your own mind about your insecurities and what might happen. I was in that phase of the relationship with Blake and getting paranoid.”
Stefani added that this is “an insecurity we both have,” as they ask each other, “Are you still going to love me when I’m old or if I forget who I am?” The song’s title was inspired by their project of transplanting purple irises growing on their Oklahoma ranch.
“The truth is I am in love with my best friend,” Stefani said, “and all this sh*t I’m thinking of in my brain, that’s all it is — I’m overthinking.”
