Epic Games Announces Ariana Grande as Latest ‘Fortnite’ Concert Headliner

Ariana Grande will headline “Rift Tour,” the next official online Fortnite concert. There will be five in-game concert showtimes for fans to join starting August 6. Based on all of the epic past Fortnite concerts, Grande’s will be an unbelievable experience you won’t want to miss.

Grande’s concert series runs through August 8. Epic Games, the developers behind Fortnite, suggest that concert-goers should log onto the game one hour prior to Grande’s performance. This will allow you to check out the Rift Tour playlist, which will go live 30 minutes before the concert starts.
A Rift Tour tab is now available on the game menu. Clicking the tab will allow players to mark off which showtimes they want to attend. Along with the announcement, Grande debuted her playable animated character on social media.
“Working with Epic and the Fortnite team to bring my music to life inside the game has been so fun and such an honor,” Grande said. “I can’t wait to join my fans and see all of your reactions to such an unforgettable, magical journey to new realities.”
Exclusive rewards for Rift Tour quests will be available until August 8. Epic will sell a skin, or an outfit for your character, modeled after The Voice coach. She joins the Icon Series where celebrity looks are replicated and available for purchase in the game.
“Building on and incorporating other celebrated Fortnite moments, the Rift Tour will begin with experiences that pair popular tracks with moments based on elements from the game,” according to Epic Games. “Players will be able to travel side by side with their friends on a journey to magical new realities where Fortnite and Ariana collide.”
Grande’s special Fortnite skin goes on sale on August 4 at 8 p.m. ET. The coolest part of the skin is her colorful pig backpack to pay tribute to her real life pet pig, Piggy Smallz. Those who attend the Rift Tour will also receive a Cuddly Cloudcruiser commemorative umbrella.
How to Attend Grande’s Virtual Concert
After Grande made the Rift Tour announcement to her 256 million Instagram followers, many of them pledged to attend the event. Some of them might even be first-time Fortnite players. For those that do not already play Fortnite, all you have to do is download it for free on on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, or PC.
You need to download the v17.30 game update prior to the show you would like to attend. If you plan on attending a show, make sure you log on early to ensure that you get a spot. Fortnite concerts have become increasingly popular with each celebrity performer that is announced.
Over 10 million people attended Marshmello’s in-game Fortnite concert in 2019. Travis Scott had over 12 million people attend his concert last year.
