Man Wears Chilling KKK Hood Whilst Shopping & Twitter Is Freaking Out

Pictures have emerged of a man shopping in Santee, California in a KKK hood. The supermarket reportedly told the middle-aged man to remove the item from his head, to which he eventually complied. The subject is now facing a huge amount of backlash online for his evident racism. The local Sheriff’s Department is also investigating.

Images have recently emerged of a man shopping in Santee, California in a KKK inspired hood. The pictures show the subject walking around the store and picking up items whilst nearby shoppers look distraught in the background at this attire.

It has been reported that several store clerks asked the man to remove his hood in the store before he finally complied. A spokesperson for the supermarket chain released a statement, condemning the ‘disturbing’ incident:
“At Vons, fostering an environment of courtesy, dignity, and respect is one of our highest priorities, and we work hard to hold everyone in our stores to these standards, including customers. This was a disturbing incident for our associates and customers, and we are reviewing with our team how to best handle such inappropriate situations in the future.”

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is currently reviewing the incident and is being investigated as a possible hate crime. Detectives are currently ‘looking into the matter and will pursue any appropriate criminal charges.’

Twitter responds in fury to the disturbing images of the shopper in KKK attire
As the distressing images are surfacing online, many have taken to Twitter to respond to the incident and express disapproval using the hashtag, ‘#KlanteeMan‘. Some users have even called for the subject to be doxed online.
One user, who regularly shops at that specific Vons store, referred to the incident as ‘chilling’ but acknowledged that the town of Santee is ‘changing’. This claim comes after many previous reports that the area of Santee is prolific for racism and outdated hatred. The tweet reads: “Chilling to see this in my hometown Vons. This is where I shop. I find it hard to believe he was able to walk through the store without being escorted out. Just be aware that Santee is changing. Getting more diverse. More welcoming to POC.”

Others have expressed their disapproval with the lack of law enforcement and government intervention on these kinds of publically denounced acts. One user tweeted: “i can’t believe germany has penalized the use of KKK symbols along with nazi symbols and those of other violent/dangerous groups, but in the US it’s totally fine to walk around wearing a klan hood.”
