Meet ‘AGT’ Golden Buzzer Singer Jessica Sanchez

America’s Got Talent is officially back! Now that AGT is back for its 20th season on NBC, there’s been a huge twist to the show itself. Instead of 4 or 5 Golden Buzzers, this season will feature 9. America’s Got Talent and American Idol alumni Jessica Sanchez is among the recipients of the season.
Who is Sofia Vergara’s Golden Buzzer Recipient Jessica Sanchez?
It’s no secret that any Got Talent fan loves when an act returns to the stage, years later. It seems like Sofia Vergara is among the fans of crossover contestants by rewarding Jessica with one of her two Golden Buzzers.
For those who may not remember, Jessica Sanchez first appeared on America’s Got Talent Season 1 at 10 years old. Although her audition was never aired, and she was eliminated from the semifinals without performing, Sanchez was brought back by judge Brandy Norwood during the Wild Card Show.
After being brought back as a wildcard, Sanchez sang “I Surrender” by Hillsong Worship. Judges Piers Morgan, Brandy Norwood and David Hasselhoff all voted “yes” on Sanchez. Unfortunately, she did not earn enough votes to continue in the competition.
In 2012, Sanchez appeared as part of American Idol on FOX. Once again, her audition was not televised. Sanchez sang “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin in her audition. She earned three “yeses” from judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, and Jennifer Lopez. She then finished the competition out as the runner up of the season.
Now, nearly 20 years later, Jessica is back and ready to compete for the prize of a million dollars once again.
“Being 10 years old on AGT played such a massive role in me believing in something bigger for myself, for my voice,” the singer wrote on Instagram. “What a huge blessing it is to be able to come back and chase after my dreams again after 20 years.”
