Kelly Clarkson Files to Legally Change Her Name to Kelly Brianne

Kelly Clarkson may soon be dropping “Clarkson” from her legal name. Clarkson filed court documents on Valentine’s Day to legally change her name to Kelly Brianne. It’s believed that the urge to change her name comes from her recent divorce from Brandon Blackstock.
Kelly Clarkson’s Valentine’s Day Was Filled With Self Care
The Voice coach filed the documents to change her name following her recent divorce. The couple originally split in June 2020, but went through legal hearings in 2021. Following the couple clashing over their prenuptial agreement, most co-owned assets have been determined at this time. The biggest asset, the Montana Ranch finances, were settled in early 2022.
Since divorcing from Blackstock, Clarkson has been declared legally single. When asking for the status, she stated that both parties deserve the opportunity to build a new life. Since she was declared single, Clarkson has begun creating the new life for her and her children.
On Feb 14, 2022, she filed to drop Clarkson from her legal name. If approved, she would now be going by Kelly Brianne. Brianne is the singer’s middle name. Within the document, the singer shared that this name fully reflects who she is.
A court date to hear and review the petition of her name change is set for March 28. Right now, we’re unsure if Clarkson would be rebranding the projects that include her former legal name. Fans may see The Kelly Clarkson Show become The Kelly Brianne Show in a few months.
Is 2022 the Year of Self Love for Clarkson?
Clarkson has previously shared that she wants do more stuff with her kids in the new year. In November, Clarkson was granted primary custody of River Rose (7), and Remington Alexander Blackstock (5). It’s clear that on top of caring for her two children, she is also showing more love to herself this year.
In the past year, Clarkson has done everything she can to fully separate herself from her ex husband. These acts have included, dropping his last name and restoring her legal name and moving into a new home. It’s been reported that Clarkson spent a $5.445 million on a home in Los Angeles, CA, last summer. This home is where Clarkson resides with her two children.
In the coming months Clarkson has a lot planned for her fans. Earlier this month, Clarkson announced that she teamed up with Dolly Parton to release a new version of the iconic hit “9 to 5.” The song will release on March 13, at this year’s SXSW festival. On top of the iconic duet, it was recently announced that Clarkson is hosting American Song Contest on NBC with Snoop Dogg.
