Kelly Clarkson, Snoop Dogg Team Up to Host ‘American Song Contest’

American Song Contest finally announced that superstars Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg will be the celebrity hosts of the live competition premiering next month. American Song Contest will model Eurovision to find the best singer representing each state in the U.S. to then compete for a grand prize.
The commercial announced series hosts Clarkson and Snoop Dogg. Within the promotional video they shared that music from across America will go head-to-head in the biggest televised event ever seen. American Song Contest mirrors the formatting of European phenomenon, Eurovision. Eurovision brings in more than 200 million viewers in the United Kingdom, so this spin off series has the potential to do really well.
American Song Contest includes each of the 50 states, five territories and Washington D.C. Each location will have one artist participating. These artists can be solo, duo, bands, or DJ. Each artist will perform an original song throughout every round of the competition. The winner is determined from fan votes and “a jury of music industry professionals.” Music professionals have not been announced at this time.
Host Announcements Make Fans More Excited For This Series
Many fans shared their excitement for Clarkson’s involvement in the comment section of the announcement. The beloved The Voice coach is trying out a new role in 2022, hosting.
“I think we can all agree that NBC stands for nothing but Clarkson,” one fan wrote.
Before the super bowl aired, Clarkson took to Twitter to share another commercial from NBC. Within the commercial she’s sitting next to America’s Got Talent host Terry Crews, as well as Mariska Hargitay from Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. The commercial shows NBC stars were joking about who was the biggest on the network while criticizing a fake commercial. Within the commentary of the video, Clarkson mentions that she’s on like every NBC series.
Clarkson is currently on The Voice, has been a guest judge on America’s Got Talent, and hosts her own talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show all on NBC. Snoop Dogg has also appeared on The Voice and in a variety of other guest roles. The hosts will only add to the popularity of this show since both hosts are known and loved.
