Kelly Clarkson, Snoop Dogg Team Up to Host ‘American Song Contest’
American Song Contest finally announced that superstars Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg will be the celebrity hosts of the live competition premiering next month. American Song Contest will model Eurovision to find the best singer representing each state in the U.S. to then compete for a grand prize.
The commercial announced series hosts Clarkson and Snoop Dogg. Within the promotional video they shared that music from across America will go head-to-head in the biggest televised event ever seen. American Song Contest mirrors the formatting of European phenomenon, Eurovision. Eurovision brings in more than 200 million viewers in the United Kingdom, so this spin off series has the potential to do really well.
American Song Contest includes each of the 50 states, five territories and Washington D.C. Each location will have one artist participating. These artists can be solo, duo, bands, or DJ. Each artist will perform an original song throughout every round of the competition. The winner is determined from fan votes and “a jury of music industry professionals.” Music professionals have not been announced at this time.
