Katy Perry Says ‘Everything Is Fake’ As She Reveals Real Hair Under Wig

Katy Perry has been sporting mostly blonde locks these days, so it was a surprise when the singer posted photos of herself with long dark hair on Instagram. Katy changed up her look for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote American Idol.
However, the pop star revealed on Instagram Stories that it was actually a wig, and even showed off her real hair underneath. Check out Katy’s temporary look in the photos below.
Katy Perry Wears Dark Wig On Instagram
As Katy posted on Instagram earlier this week, “mama has the night off so you get inches.” She shared a few selfies showing off the new look, as well as a video showcasing her long dress with a butterfly pattern.

Katy smiled at the camera and flipped her long dark hair — a far cry from the short, blonde style she’s been sporting for a while now. Her followers loved it, with fellow star Demi Lovato writing, “Wowowowow mama!” Gwyneth Paltrow told her, “You look gorge.”
Lest fans think the change was permanent, Katy took to her Stories to show herself sitting in the makeup chair with her blonde hair pushed back on her head. “Everything is fake!” she said to the camera, revealing that she was wearing a wig.
Katy Keeps It Honest With Fans
Katy’s hair might have been fake, but she always keeps it real with fans when it comes to her beauty secrets. That includes what she wears under her fancy clothes to smooth things out.

In December, Katy posted a video of herself strutting toward the camera in a blue trench coat. Then she lifted the garment to show that she was wearing a pair of Spanx underneath the outfit. She captioned it #whatmakesawoman.
Similarly, just a week after giving birth to her daughter Daisy Dove last year, Katy posted a photo of herself wearing a nursing bra. She captioned it, “Hair and makeup by: @exhaustion.”
