Is Derek Hough Secretly Engaged to Hayley Erbert? — Here’s Why Fans Think So

If you’ve noticed something shiny in Derek Hough’s latest Instagram story, so did we. Hough posted videos of his girlfriend Hayley Erbert trying on a swim cap. As Erbert puts the cap on her head and Hough laughs in the background, a ring glistens on her finger.
Derek Hough Sparks Engagement Rumors with Hayley Erbert
The couple have not made an official engagement announcement yet so it’s obviously all speculation. The rumor mill has been going for years with fans noticing the bling and hints. In 2017, Erbert was a part of a Dancing with the Stars number that required her to wear a wedding dress. Many thought she was hinting at something big.
Back in October 2020, the couple spoke about potentially getting engaged on their YouTube channel. Many wondered if Hough and Erbert would follow in the footsteps of Dancing with the Stars pro’s Emma Slater and Sasha Farber and get engaged on the show. Hough will be making his return as a judge on Dancing with the Stars this season and Erbert is hoping to lock down a role as pro dancer after years of being on the troupe.
Unfortunately for longtime fans, they both shot down the possibility of getting engaged on the show with a hard “no.” Hough and Erbert started dating in 2015. She joined the show back in Season 21 after competing on Season 10 of FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. Hough took his final bow in the ballroom as a pro in Season 23. It was a no-brainer to bring him on as a judge for Season 29 last year.
In a Reddit thread posted earlier this month, fans further speculated that the couple secretly got engaged. Hough posted one Instagram Story where Erbert put her hand on his shoulder. A huge diamond ring was visible on her hand. One Reddit user pointed out that she has been wearing the ring in Instagram stories for months since the couple’s trip to Yosemite. Erbert is not wearing the ring in any of the recent posts on her Instagram feed.
Hough Just Proved He is the Busiest Performer Ever
In the midst of all of the engagement talk, Hough has been working non-stop. He just announced that his No Limit residency at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas will be back on this fall. The show was initially set for last June at the Flamingo Showroom but was postponed due to the pandemic. Now, Hough’s show has found a new home.
How does he find the time for all of this? His No Limit shows are set to kick off on September 22 just two days after the premiere of Season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. Hough will be traveling back and forth to film Dancing with the Stars in Los Angeles. For him, being busy is actually something he enjoys.
“I think it’ll be a lot of fun to stay busy like that, but really I just cannot wait to be performing live again, just like every performer is itching to get back onstage,” he told Las Vegas Weekly. “I’ve been going through the show and the music and getting the crew back together and it’s going to be fantastic.”
Longtime fans of Hough know that Erbert has joined him on tour before. As for No Limit, he did not confirm whether or not she would be joining him for these shows. She too would most likely have to find the balance between this residency and Dancing with the Stars.
“There will definitely be some new additions to the [touring] show, some different pieces I’ve been working on and also a few new dancers and amazing new choreographers I’m just a huge fan of,” Hough teased. “They are going to add another layer of creativity and artistry to the show and it’s all coming together.”
