Is David Walliams Leaving ‘Britain’s Got Talent’?

On of my favorite things about Britain’s Got Talent is the antics of certified lunatic David Walliams. He embodies the wacky British sense of humor like no other. He also works as a great counterpart to Mr. Grumpy, Simon Cowell. But David might be leaving the show after this year. Say it ain’t so, Dave!

We all know that Simon likes to fiddle around with his shows, The X Factor being the most famous example. But he’s messed with Britain’s Got Talent before. It’s unclear why David thinks his time on the show may be coming to an end. Perhaps Simon has intimated that he might fire him or maybe David Walliams wants to move on to other things. It’s hard to say. Those Got Talent schedules are rough, as we’ve been told. David said of his return,

“I have one more year, and then my contract is up. [After that?] We shall see.”

Yikes. This in spite of the fact that he won Best TV Judge at the National Television Awards, which is kind of like the Emmys. I would love for him to stay because I really enjoy him. It also frightens me that they might bring back Pierce Morgan. Because, seriously, screw that guy. I just don’t see why they’d mess with a winning formula. We know that Ant is returning to co-host the show with his buddy Dec this season. Why break up the band if you are still churning out hits? As Stephen Stills said in the sixties, “Love the one you’re with”. Just renew David’s contract and continue with the fun. We know the BBC has the money, they take it from the taxes of the British people. If they need money for David’s contract maybe the Queen could sell a spare tiara she isn’t using.
