There are many things Americans will get all riled up about and one of them is the national anthem. Do a not so great version and you will find yourself on the receiving end of a million angry Twitter comments. Poor Fergie, the incredible host of The Four and legendary performer, sang a less than great version of The Star-Spangled Banner at the NBA All-Star game and was eaten alive. So, she apologized and explained her choices.
The thing about Fergie is that she always tries to push boundaries. So, she did a version of the anthem that was all sexy and stuff. People were not amused. Fergie said,
“I am honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
So, let’s get of Fergie’s back already. It’s a tough song to sing, she took a swing and missed. Are you perfect? No. Can you hit those notes in the anthem? I didn’t think so.We love you, Fergie.
