Britain’s Got Talent Series 18 returned over the weekend for the first show of the live Semifinals. The judges and hosts get to press one Golden Buzzer each during this round, and this was Amanda Holden’s week to use hers. She chose to give the honor to the Blackouts, an LED dance group.
The Blackouts Earn Golden Buzzer in BGT Semifinals
During this week’s show, the Blackouts took the stage to perform a colorful light-up dance routine set to songs by Elton John and Coldplay. The LED dance group from Switzerland previously earned the group Golden Buzzer during the audition round.
In addition to the group’s costumes, the performance also featured a light-up car and phone booth, as they invited everyone to “party with us.” The group members also banged on drums, and one of them appeared to levitate thanks to a bunch of balloons.
The judges gave the performance a standing ovation, and the audience went wild with applause. The crowd chanted for the Golden Buzzer, and Amanda Holden gave them what they wanted. The Blackouts will now go straight into the Finals.
Fellow judge Simon Cowell predicted that the group could win the entire competition. Holden told them she didn’t think they could improve upon their audition, but they proved her wrong.

Singer Vinnie McKee Moves on After Amazing Performance
Two contestants were sent to the Finals during this week’s live show. Along with the Golden Buzzer recipient, one finalist was determined by public vote. That spot went to Scottish singer Vinnie McKee, who previously earned a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell in his audition.
For his latest performance, Vinnie chose to sing “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol, showing off a soaring voice and incredible range. The judges gave him a standing ovation, with Bruno Tonioli calling him “a triumph for Scotland.” Cowell said he loved Vinnie’s take on the song.
The public decided they wanted Vinnie to go to the Finals. He and the Blackouts are the first two acts to make it through the Semifinals round. A whole new group of contestants will take the stage during next week’s show for their own chance to move on.
