During Stefani’s resurfaced appearance on the show, Barrymore asked her a series of questions about romance. One of them was about the best advice she’d ever received about love. Stefani answered, “Make sure you have a third party.”
The singer quickly clarified what she meant by that, pointing upwards. The implication is that the “third party” is God. That earned her applause from the audience. Stefani has been very open about her faith, even promoting a Catholic prayer app called Hallow.
During her chat with Barrymore, Stefani also named Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” as her favorite love song. She also said she prefers a date night at home, with her and Shelton sitting on their own separate couches.
“I would sit next to him,” Stefani said of their arrangement, “but he’s gigantic, and we don’t fit anywhere.”

The Couple Is Set to Release a New Duet
Since they started dating in 2015, Stefani and Shelton have collaborated on several duets. They have another one coming out soon, as part of Shelton’s new album For Recreational Use Only. The project is set to be released on May 9.
Shelton told Access Hollywood that the new track, titled “Hangin’ On,” is “about breaking up but still trying to stay together.” He clarified that the duet is “no reflection of where Gwen and I are in our relationship,” but called it a “badass country song.”
Last year, the couple teamed up on the song “Purple Irises” for Stefani’s album Bouquet. Stefani released a deluxe version of the album last month, including acoustic versions of several tracks and a new song called “Still Gonna Love You” featuring Finneas.
