‘DWTS’ Pro Peta Murgatroyd Opens Up About Past Miscarriages

Dancing with the Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd recently posted an honest video documenting her past miscarriages as she and her husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy tried to have a second child. Murgatroyd is currently pregnant and due to give birth very soon.
Peta Murgatroyd Opens Up About Miscarriages
Murgatroyd’s video opens in October 2020, with footage of her sharing her positive pregnancy test. She ended up miscarrying in a Whole Foods bathroom. The dancer said the next four months were “incredibly tough” for her, but she “never showed my pain.”
Nine months later, Murgatroyd once again had a positive pregnancy test. She ended up miscarrying for a second time while Chmerkovskiy was on tour. Their lunch in New York where she intended to share the good news ended up being “pretty sad.”
Two months later, Murgatroyd traveled to be with Chmerkovskiy. When she flew home, she was pregnant, but she had also become sick with Covid-19. She ended up miscarrying for a third time. Murgatroyd wrote, “I was almost too sick to care but I remember thinking why me again??”
The dancer ended her video with a clip of Chmerkovskiy kissing her pregnant belly. Murgatroyd wrote in the post’s caption that she’s 39 weeks pregnant.

Murgatroyd Says She’s a ‘Changed Woman’
Murgatroyd wrote in the caption of her post that she was “reluctant sharing this footage.” She called herself “a changed woman from these events,” adding, “I think a better woman. Today I am happy and content, I am grateful and won’t take things for granted.”
The dancer explained that she believed she needed to be pregnant with her second child “for my soul, to be full and whole.” She shared, “What I needed to realize and come to terms with was the fact that I am whole, I have a beautiful healthy family who love me and that I wasn’t able to see.”
Murgatroyd wrote that after she “released my fears of bearing only one child,” she became pregnant again naturally. She ended her post by calling Chmerkovskiy “the greatest man I could hope to be with” and her son Shai “my light and greatest joy through all of this.”
