Dancing with the Stars pros Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are currently expecting their second child together. On Thursday, the couple took to Instagram to reveal that they’re having another boy. They already share a son named Shai, born in 2017.
Peta Murgatroyd, Maksim Chmerkovskiy Expecting Another Boy
On Thursday, Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy posted a gender reveal video in which they can be seen dancing together in all-black outfits. After a moment, their 6-year-old son Shai steps into frame holding up a hand-written sign with the word “boy.”
“We’re so elated that Shai will get a baby brother and cannot wait to meet this little guy,” the couple wrote in the post’s caption. “He is already measuring quite large … and loves to kick mummy in the ribs at all hours of the night!”
They made sure to add that the baby is also “fully healthy” and joked that their house will be “FULL of boys,” including their dog Hachi. They added, “I guess this means we have to try for baby number 3 to get that girl.”

The Couple’s Friends Responded with Excitement
The couple’s Instagram post is full of comments from friends sharing their excitement over the news that they’re having another boy. Fellow DWTS pro Jenna Johnson (who welcomed a son earlier this year with Chmerkovskiy’s brother Val) wrote, “Rome’s bff is coming so soon!!!!”
Nikki Garcia, who competed on the show with her now-husband Artem Chigvintsev, wrote, “Awww yay!! Love so much!!” Pro Lindsay Arnold, who is currently pregnant with her second daughter, wrote, “My baby girl can’t wait for her little boyfriend + dance partner!”
The post’s hashtags confirm that Murgatroyd is currently 32 weeks pregnant. The couple announced they were expecting another baby back in January after documenting their difficult fertility journey as they tried to have a second child.
