There’s a new celebrity dance competition in town, and it’s called The Real Dirty Dancing. The new FOX show will air four episodes this February, as a set of stars recreates iconic scenes and dance routines from the classic 1987 movie Dirty Dancing.
What Is ‘The Real Dirty Dancing’ on FOX?
The new competition series will premiere on February 1 and continue to air on Tuesdays in February at 9 p.m. The show is hosted by Stephen “tWitch” Boss of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, who also hosts Clash of the Cover Bands on E!
The Real Dirty Dancing is set at Mountain Lake Lodge in Virginia, where the original movie was filmed. Eight celebrities will pair up to recreate dance routines from the movie Dirty Dancing, which was set in 1963 and starred Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze as the central couple.
The new American version of the series is actually based on an Australian format, which aired in 2019. Former Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Kym Johnson worked as a choreographer on the Australian show.
