Nikki Garcia Files for Divorce from Artem Chigvintsev
In case you missed it, the former Dancing With The Stars professional was arrested on a felon domestic violence charge on August 29, in Napa, California. The alleged incident involved a spouse or partner. The full incident is still unknown at this time. It is unknown whether Nikki or the pair’s 4 year old son were involved. Chigvintsev was released from jail that same day on a bail set at $25,000.
Following the incident, a 911 dispatch tape was obtained by TMZ. Within the tape, Chigvintsev is heard requesting medical attention after Garcia allegedly threw her shoes at him during an argument, where their son was present.
The former DWTS pro then tried to cancel the call after stating he no longer needed medical attention. Police still investigated and discovered an injured individual. They then arrested Chigvintsev, who was reportedly “not fighting or combative.”
On August 30, Garcia’s representative shared a statement, “Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time.” Chigvintsev’s arraignment is scheduled for November 4.
Since the arrest, Garcia has officially filed to divorce from Chigvintsev. The former WWE star listed their date of separation as August 29. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, and also asked the court not to grant spousal support to her and Chigvintsev and requested sole legal and physical custody of Matteo.
Chigvintsev in turn, asked for joint legal and physical custody. He also requested spousal support from Garcia and asked that she pays his attorney fees.
