Ariana Grande Refuses to Part Ways With Singers from ‘The Voice’ Battle Round
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Ariana Grande chose Katie Rae Mortimer as the winner of the first The Voice battle between she and Bella DeNapoli. Although Grande crowned her winner, she decided that she couldn’t possibly get rid of Bella just yet. Grande shocked the other coaches and audience when she used her save after bawling her eyes out over their performance.
These singers came to the stage to sing “No More Tears (Enough is Enough)” by Donna Summer and Barbra Streisand. From the practice rounds, you could tell both girls were giving their all in this practice. Grande called these singers a powerhouse when coaching with Kristin Chenoweth and they definitely weren’t wrong.
Bella and Katie definitely began the next round of the competition out on the right foot. Their performance was so great that Grande was talking through tears while telling these girls how proud she was. The coaches were all seen with jaws dropped throughout the entire song.
Grande began crying while they were performing, but the other coaches all said nice things about the performance, which definitely made Grande a bit more emotional. Through her tears, she decided that Katie’s jazz tone outshined Bella’s delicate vocals in the beginning of the performance.
Ariana Grande Uses Her First Steal
Almost immediately after choosing Katie as the winner of this battle, Grande decided to use her first save of the round. She loved this duo so much that she seriously couldn’t get rid of either of them. The coach was extremely excited when she was able to save Bella.
Bella and the other coaches shared an emotion, they all were confused and surprised. Kelly Clarkson laughed at Grande’s use of the save feature because clearly they weren’t going to steal Bella considering Grande was hysterically crying.
Nonetheless, after the battle was over Grande surprised Bella backstage. She hugged the singer and apologised for not choosing her as the winner of the battle.
