Ariana Grande Admits She Has ‘Broken Every Rule’ in Her ‘The Voice’ Contract
Kelly Clarkson normally feels “pretty confident” that she will win each season of The Voice. The addition of Ariana Grande to the coaching panel has certainly made her feel a bit intimidated. Grande stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show, which aired ahead of the Season 21 premiere. She had some major tea to spill about working on The Voice.
‘The Voice’ Coach Ariana Grande Stops By ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’
Grande spoke to Clarkson about how she was only 14 years old when she moved to Los Angeles for the very first time. She went through a long waiting period to hear back from the Victorious producers. Her mother wondered if they should just get an apartment instead of staying in hotels.
“The first time I came to L.A. was for my Victorious callback and I was so nervous but so excited,” Grande said.
Now, she is one of the biggest musicians in the entire world. Even after all of her success, Grande is still humbled by the incredibly talented artists on The Voice this season. She had a very sentimental answer when asked what her favorite part of working on the show is.
“Other than getting to know you all and spend that time laughing so hard, I just love seeing the talent that’s on the show, getting to know these artists, and work with them,” she said. “It’s just like a very special experience to be able to share some of what we’ve learned and been able to do in our lives with these artists that are just wanting to do the same thing.”
Grande went on to say that she is “obsessed” with her team. She talks to them all the time. Before The Voice airs, the coaches and contestants are supposed to be very secretive about their involvement in the show. On top of communicating with the contestants on her team frequently, Clarkson mentioned that Grande sends things to her team members at the hotel.
“I’ve broken every rule in my contract talking to them all, all of the time,” she admitted. “I’m like DM’ing them. They’re like ‘hey you’re not supposed to do that,’ and I’m like ‘sorry.'”
The Other Coaches Are Scared of Grande
Grande and Clarkson touched a little bit on the coach’s performance that will air tonight on The Voice. All four coaches joined together for a performance of Aretha Franklin’s “Respect.” Clarkson and Grande sound incredible in the clip of the performance that was released.
“One of my favorite moments of the whole season so far was the coach performance because just getting to sing with this woman and also Blake and John, it was just such an incredible experience,” Grande said. “Like the coolest part was the rehearsal beforehand where all of us were just sitting around a piano. Just like hearing their voices in the room was so special.”
During a previous episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, John Legend and Blake Shelton spoke about how huge Grande’s fanbase is. Legend even said that if all of her fans vote on The Voice, all of the other coaches are “in trouble.” Shelton was trying to play it cool and told Grande’s fans to “bring it on.” Clarkson insisted that Shelton and Legend are actually “terrified” of Grande.
Clarkson feels like she and the other coaches have “no chance” against Grande. Grande doesn’t believe that it is guaranteed that she will win despite the crowd reaction when she walked out onto The Voice stage. She was personally starstruck by Clarkson and “really does not think that’s true.”
Truthfully, Grande is just being modest. Her 267 million Instagram followers have been waiting for her debut on The Voice for months. There is no way her team will lose this season, even if Shelton busts out some new intimidation tactics.
