We Rank ‘The Voice’ Coaches Best Moments on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’
Every time The Voice coaches appear on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the stage is full of laughter. John Legend, Nick Jonas, Blake Shelton, and Kelly Clarkson have all made some incredible memories on her daytime talk show. Season 21 of The Voice will premiere on September 20 with Ariana Grande as a new coach. Let’s take a look back at some of the coaches best moments on Clarkson’s stage.
1. Blake Shelton Doesn’t Know the Lyrics to Gwen Stefani’s Song
The coaches played a game called “Throw Me A Line” where they got tested on their lyrical knowledge. After hearing random song lyrics, the coaches had to buzz in with the title of the song. Shelton and Jonas were on one team and Clarkson and Legend were on the other team. The score was tied after Shelton correctly guessed “Footloose.” When the lyrics of Gwen Stefani‘s “Hollaback Girl” flashed on the screen, Clarkson and Legend were first to buzz in. Shelton looked on in disbelief as he could not recognize Stefani’s song.
2. Shelton Can’t Recognize John Legend’s Oscar-Winning Song
Legend revealed that his favorite moment from Season 20 of The Voice was when Victor Solomon performed his Oscar-winning hit “Glory” for his Blind Audition. Shelton was the first to turn his chair for Victor and went on a rant about how gospel artists have done well on his team. The entire time, Shelton had no idea that Victor sang Legend’s song. Clarkson eventually pointed it out to him. Shelton later joked on The Kelly Clarkson Show that “Glory” is “John’s only damn song.” The best part about this clip is that Jonas is dressed like country boy Shelton. The denim on denim outfit looks exactly like something Shelton would wear while sipping out of a red solo cup.
3. Nick Jonas Warns Ariana Grande Before ‘The Voice’ Debut
Jonas called Grande “one of the best singers in the game” on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The advice that he wanted to give her is not to trust any of the other coaches. Legend pointed out that Grande watches the show and knows exactly how Shelton’s tactics work. Legend and Clarkson are both scared that Grande’s fanbase will make up the majority of the voters for Season 21. They are most likely right. Shelton still remains confident that the country lovers will help get his team to victory once again.
4. A Wine Tasting with a Twist
In October 2020, Clarkson decided it was time to have a wine tasting on her show with Shelton. We always see him drinking out of solo cups and promoting his alcohol brand. We have pretty much never seen him drink wine before this appearance. Actress Cynthia Nixon also joined in on the tasting virtually along with a sommelier. When the sommelier asked Shelton what he was smelling during the tasting, the cowboy replied “wine, what do you mean?” Shelton and Clarkson shared a hilarious moment as they swished the wine around in their mouths and were choking back laughter.
5. ‘Golden Girls’ Trivia Gets Competitive
Shelton and Clarkson played a game of Golden Girls trivia because they are both big fans. Shelton got the first two questions right. The competitive camaraderie between the two was very evident even off of The Voice stage. Shelton won the game and seriously impressed viewers with his knowledge of the show. Clarkson put Shelton’s photo on the Wall of Champions but not before drawing teardrops on it with a marker.
6. Jonas Questions Fellow ‘The Voice’ Coaches ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ Titles
In a solo appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Jonas shared his thoughts on Legend and Shelton both being named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” throughout their careers. Former coach Adam Levine also received the title in the past. Jonas questioned the validity of the title. He threw a bit of shade and suggested that Shelton paid somebody off.
7. Kelly Clarkson Makes a Shady Toast
To promote his tequila brand with John Varvatos, Jonas brought some to The Kelly Clarkson Show. The pair took a shot and Clarkson commented about how smooth it was. To celebrate Jonas’ first season as a coach on The Voice, Clarkson decided they should take another shot. She made a comment about how she was going to kick his tail on The Voice. She was wrong because it was Shelton’s artist Todd Tilghman who ended up winning.
8. Reliving Pete Mroz’s Blind Audition
One of the most awkward yet amazing moments of The Voice Season 20 was Shelton being reunited with his former bandmate. The problem was, Shelton did not recognize Pete Mroz when he turned his chair for him during the Blind Auditions. The other coaches will never let him live this down. They will probably laugh about this for the rest of their lives.
