In 2019, Booth reached the Top 5 during American Idol Season 17. Her new single “Damn Good in a Dive Bar” shows off the signature husky tone that impressed viewers during her time on the show. The track has a dreamy quality to it, backed by acoustic guitar.
“All eyes on the high-rise Levi’s in the low light / Boys say, ‘Hey there, ain’t you a sight,'” Booth sings on the single’s chorus. “You can write my name in Sharpie on the wall / But you can’t take me home when they’re calling last call / Two dollar buzz, breaking neon hearts / I look pretty damn good in a dive bar.”
Booth also released visuals to go along with the new song. In the video, the 27-year-old hangs out at a bar in denim shorts and a white tank top, playing pool and sipping beer. The American Idol Instagram page shared shots from the video when promoting the song on Stories.

What Has Booth Been Up to Since the Show?
After her time on American Idol, Booth released a self-titled album in 2021. Then earlier this year, Booth shared that she had been dropped by her record label, Big Machine Label Group. The singer told fans she felt “embarrassed” about the situation.
However, the singer didn’t let that setback stop her from moving forward with her music career. In addition to releasing new music, Booth has also spent the past couple of months touring with Blanco Brown and performing with Season 20 Idol stars Noah Thompson and HunterGirl.
Booth recently told Country Now that her “vision now is more clear than it’s ever been,” adding that “it’s just a liberating feeling, having creative control over my project, and I think you can absolutely tell in these next few songs that I release.”
