‘American Idol’s Christian Guardino Reacts to Elimination, Teases Michael Bublé Duet

American Idol Season 20 had to say goodbye to Christian Guardino on Sunday night, as the competition was narrowed down from the Top 7 to the Top 5. Christian took to Instagram on Monday to share his thoughts about leaving the show.
Christian Guardino Reacts to ‘American Idol’ Elimination
On Sunday night, Christian delivered two powerful performances. For the TikTok-inspired portion of the show, he sang “Lonely” by Justin Bieber. He followed that up with an emotional performance of “Dear God” by Smokie Norful in honor of his mom.
Unfortunately, Christian and his fellow competitor Jay were eliminated from the Top 7. Christian posted a photo of himself on the Idol stage and told fans, “Thank you all so much for your outpouring of love and support but know that I am TOTALLY FINE!!!”
“I am so grateful for this entire experience!” Christian wrote of his time on the show. “My journey does NOT finish here.. as a matter of fact… I am more on fire and ready to fight for my spot in music than ever so KEEP WATCHING & LISTENING!”
Christian teased that he has new music coming soon. Fans shared their support in the comments, as did AGT winner Darci Lynne, who wrote, “You are INCREDIBLE Christian.” Christian competed on the show in the same season back in 2017.

The Singer Will Perform with Michael Bublé in the Finale
Christian may have been eliminated, but he’ll be back on the American Idol stage during the finale to sing with none other than Michael Bublé. The star first surprised Christian during Disney Week, and he had a special video message on Sunday night’s live show.
“I have an idea. What would you think about, in a couple weeks from now, singing with me on the finale?” Bublé asked, to which Christian responded, “Absolutely!”
Christian teased the upcoming duet in his Instagram post, writing, “I have learned so much, grown as an artist & gained new family for life AND I get to perform with the legend @michaelbuble.”
The Season 20 finale of American Idol will air Sunday, May 22. Next week, the Top 5 contestants are headed to Las Vegas to be mentored by former winner Carrie Underwood.
