Perry brought up the fact that Bryan has a “man crush” on their fellow American Idol judge Lionel Richie. Bryan replied, “Who doesn’t, right?” He said the first time they met, it was “cosmic,” adding that Richie is always available to give advice.
The pair also talked about how easy it is to prank Bryan. His wife Caroline loves to prank him, and so does Perry. They shared a clip from the upcoming new season of Idol, which is being filmed now. While listening to a singer auditioning, Perry got up and grabbed Bryan by the shoulders, scaring him.
The musicians went on to discuss their upcoming residencies at Resorts World in Las Vegas. Perry said they worked together to brainstorm the shows, with Bryan suggesting his should be called “Try Not to Puke with Luke.” Bryan also showed off his Elvis Presley impression for the audience.
Bryan and Perry ended the interview by gifting each other hats themed to their Vegas shows. Perry gave Bryan a mushroom cap, while Bryan gave Perry a beer-drinking helmet. She even tried it out, and it was actually full of beer! Perry’s residency starts in December, while Bryan’s starts in February.
