Filming for American Idol Season 20 is kicking off soon, as the judges got back together this week, along with host Ryan Seacrest. According to Seacrest’s social media posts, production is starting in Texas.

Auditions are still open for the new season, so you haven’t lost your chance to try out for the show. Season 20 will likely premiere early in 2022, so get ready for some brand-new talent.

‘American Idol’ Judges Get Back Together for Filming

On Sunday night, Seacrest took to social media to share a photo from dinner with the American Idol team, including the judges. The host is in front holding the camera, with judge Lionel Richie seated next to him. Across from Richie is Luke Bryan, and down the table is Katy Perry.

“Picking up where we left off,” Seacrest captioned the photo, which was retweeted by the show’s official account. “The band is back together for number 20!”

The host also posted an Instagram photo sharing the gang’s first stop for the new season. He wore a cowboy hat and posed with a couple of horses, writing that filming is kicking off in Texas. According to the show’s Instagram stories, they’re specifically filming in Austin.

Auditions for Season 20 Are Still Open Now

Just because the judges are back together for filming, it doesn’t mean you’ve lost your chance to audition for the show. The American Idol social media is still encouraging people to try out on the show’s website.

Unfortunately, virtual auditions with producers as part of the Idol Across America tour are no longer available, but there’s also the option to submit a video audition to be considered. These auditions will be accepted through October 15, so get to it soon.

Who will follow in Season 19 winner Chayce Beckham’s footsteps and be crowned the Season 20 American Idol? We’ll find out when the show officially returns next year.
