New tapings for The Voice Season 28 have been announced, and fans are disappointed to learn that the finale will seemingly be the only live show of the season. This means there will be fewer opportunities for viewers to vote for their favorite artists.

The Voice Announces Season 28 Live Shows

Last month, The Voice announced that six artists will advance from the Season 28 Playoffs to the Live Shows. Each of the four coaches will select one artist from their team to move on, while fans will vote for the other two artists.

Earlier this week, a fan on the show’s subreddit shared a link to the 1iota.com ticket page for Season 28. It lists only two dates for upcoming live tapings of the show, on December 15 and 16. As the Reddit user points out, this seems to suggest that only the two-part finale will be live this season.

If this is the case, it sounds like fans will only have two opportunities to vote this season — once during the Playoffs and once in the finale. This is very different from earlier seasons of the show, which featured several weeks of live shows.

“I personally don’t like this much at all, not even because it’s one show but because 6 artists feels like too many for a finale,” the Reddit user writes. “I didn’t buy into this theory at first but it unfortunately seems like the show is hurtling towards being fully pre-recorded even past S29 like its British and Australian counterparts.”

What Do Fans Think of the Schedule?

The Voice fans on Reddit shared their thoughts about the news that Season 28 might only have one week of live shows this season. As one user wrote, “Seems like the days of the live shows are sadly gone.” Another wrote of the schedule, “It sucks.”

“If they could go back to the season 3-8 format that worked fine instead of constantly throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, that would be great,” wrote another user, seeming to refer to the show’s frequent format changes.

Blind Auditions for Season 28 recently wrapped up, and the Battles are set to begin next week. After that, the artists will compete in the Knockouts round, followed by the Playoffs and the Live Shows. Deadline reports that as NBA games start airing on NBC, The Voice will move to one night per week instead of two.
