‘AGT,’ ‘The Voice’ Star Nolan Neal’s Cause of Death Has Been Revealed

The cause of death for late singer Nolan Neal, who appeared on both The Voice and America’s Got Talent, has been revealed. According to Page Six, the coroner concluded that Neal died of “acute combined drug toxicity.”

The Davidson County Medical Examiner’s office in Nashville reportedly told Page Six that morphine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and acetyl fentanyl were found in Neal’s system. The manner of his death was ruled an accident.
Neal passed away in July of this year. He was found in his Nashville apartment by his cousin, Dylan Seals. The singer had been open in the past about his struggles with substance abuse.
He shared in a 2020 interview that he was battling addiction while competing on Season 11 of The Voice in 2016. The singer turned four chairs with his Blind Audition to Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer.” He joined Adam Levine’s team and made it to the Knockouts.

Neal Shared His Journey with Addiction on AGT
Neal auditioned for America’s Got Talent Season 15. He shared that his father died by suicide when he was 26, and he blamed himself. After getting a record deal, he said he “partied really hard” and ended up being dropped by his label.
In his audition, Neal told the judges that he had gotten sober. He went on to perform an original song called “Lost,” which he said was “the first song I wrote sober.” The performance made judge Sofia Vergara emotional, as she shared that she and her family know how difficult addiction is.
Neal made it to the Quarterfinals of AGT, where he performed another original song called “Send Me a Butterfly,” earning a standing ovation from the judges. In 2020, the singer said he “found happiness by helping others in recovery.”
