Former X Factor contestants Jedward had a lot to say about the show — and its creator Simon Cowell — in a lengthy Twitter tirade posted on Monday.

The twin singers, named John and Edward Grimes, didn’t hold back in criticizing the show, as well as the music industry as a whole. Read on to find out what they had to say.

Jedward Exposes ‘X Factor’

Jedward started their Twitter rant by saying it was their “biggest regret” that they never told the X Factor judges “to fuck off.” They added that every contestant was “a slave to the show.”

The duo continued by saying that all the judges care about is money, singling out Simon Cowell in particular. They called the music mogul “nothing but a bad facelift.”

They also called out Simon’s company Syco for its contracts with former X Factor acts such as One Direction and Little Mix. They said the groups were “legally fucked” and not allowed to speak out with their former management “dictating their every move.”

Jedward even claimed to have a copy of One Direction’s contract, allegedly sent to them by accident. They called the music industry “corrupt” and said artists “shouldn’t be owned.”

The duo also touched on the prevalence of eating disorders and depression among music artists and even appeared to claim that many celebrity overdoses were “set up.”

Jedward added that artists are isolated from their families and made to sign non-disclosure agreements that cover up “abuse.” At one point, they declared, “You can’t silence the truth! Nobody can drag me down!”

Who Are Music Duo Jedward?

John and Edward Grimes, known as Jedward, are identical twins from Ireland who competed on The X Factor UK in 2009. They were mentored by Louis Walsh, and finished the competition in sixth place.

Jedward performed “As Long As You Love Me” by the Backstreet Boys in their audition, and were stopped mid-song by Simon, who called them “incredibly annoying.” However, he was the only judge to vote no.

They have since released four studio albums, and represented Ireland twice at Eurovision. The pair also starred in their own docuseries called Jedward: Let Loose, as well as Celebrity Big Brother.

On Twitter Tuesday, Jedward shared that they were allegedly offered $70,000 to appear on X Factor: All-Stars, which didn’t end up happening. They added that they “definitely won’t be asked now” after criticizing the show.
