Iman Shumpert Gets Caught With 6.12 Ounces of Marijuana at Airport

According to the police report, officers responded to a potential drug violation call at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport. Reports state that the call was placed after TSA screeners found a plastic bag filled with a “green left substance” during their search. Although Shumpert admitted the substance was marijuana, agents still got the police involved.

Police writing the report specified that the “green leafy substance” weighed 6.12 ounces and tested positive for marijuana. While the officers were testing the substance Shumpert allegedly asked whether he would make his flight to Los Angeles or not. At the time, the basketball player explained that he was supposed to pick up his daughter once he made it to California. For those who may not know, Shumpert has two children with The Masked Singer alum Teyana Taylor.

Soon after, Shumpert was placed in handcuffs and transported to the airport jail without incident. He was placed under arrest for marijuana possession, but officers also found a glock magazine and 14 9mm rounds. The police report states that he did not have a gun in his bag.

At this time, The Tarrant County Criminal Courts system still doesn’t have information about a court case. Since this offense is a “State Jail Felony,” conviction may include two years behind bars and a $10,000 fine. Neither Shumpert, nor Taylor have discussed his arrest.

In 2021, Shumpert made Dancing With the Stars history as the first NBA player to ever win the series. During his time in the NBA, he played for the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and the Brooklyn Nets. In present day, Shumpert has ventured into the music industry with a Rap EP and multiple singles.
