Taylor said she was “so passionate” about the show because she was initially unsure whether she should come out of retirement to participate. In 2020, she announced her plans to end her music career for her mental and emotional health.
The star liked the idea of performing “without politics and judgment,” adding that it meant a lot to “receive so much love for literally what counts the most.” She even hinted that it might not really be the end for her when it comes to music.
“I guess you can really say that The Masked Singer is technically my last bow,” Taylor said. “This is officially the last rose petal. Honestly, after today, you never know. A lot of things to think about, so stay tuned.”
Taylor also shared her love for the Firefly costume, saying she wants to create a comic book around the character. She said she loved Firefly’s sex appeal and confidence.

She and Husband Iman Shumpert Are a Talent Show Power Couple
As host Nick Cannon pointed out after Taylor was unmasked, her husband, NBA player Iman Shumpert, recently won Season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. Taylor shared her plan to put the Golden Mask trophy next to Shumpert’s Mirrorball.
Taylor and Shumpert were married in 2016. They have two daughters together. When Shumpert was competing on DWTS last year, he shared that his wife gave him advice for the competition. He said Taylor told him to “sell it.”
As The Masked Singer winner, Taylor joins some pretty big names. The show’s past winners are T-Pain, Wayne Brady, Kandi Burruss, LeAnn Rimes, Nick Lachey, and Jewel.
