Ariana Grande on The Voice

Pop singer and Wicked star Ariana Grande recently admitted that fans shouldn’t expect her to return to The Voice as a coach. She admitted this during recent a interview for her new film, Wicked, where she plays Glinda.

Ariana Grande Doesn’t Want to Return to The Voice

Fans of the pop star will remember when she took her spot at the big red chairs, alongside John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Blake Shelton in 2021. Now, in 2024, Grande admits that she won’t be returning to the show anytime soon, with a good reason.

“I got so emotionally attached to everyone,” Grande explained to Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers on the Las Culturistas podcast. “That’s my problem.”

While coaching hopeful singers, Grande became too invested in her singers. She loved them so much that she was seen crying multiple times within the season.

“I love everyone so much,” she said later. “I love meeting people, and I felt so invested. And I still do, like I see them all on Instagram.”

Following the recent premiere of Wicked, various Team Ariana members were seen sharing their love for the pop star on Instagram.

“I love them and I’m in touch with them on Instagram,” she added. “I like their posts, I see their things, I see what they’re up to.”

She is especially invested in former Team members Jim and Sasha and Bella DeNapoli’s happenings on Instagram. Whenever either singer from the show posts, Grande is seen in the posts’ likes and comments.

She Had a Difficult Time on The Show

When Grande became a coach on the show, she was the newest of the group. Alongside show veterans Shelton, Clarkson, and Legend, Grande struggled with lack of experience on the show. Apparently, its really hard to come in as a new coach.

“You watch it on TV and you think you know, ‘OK, I’m going get in there and it’s going to be easy whatever,'” Grande said in 2021. “But it’s so hard. [The other coaches] are so seasoned and so great at it.”

Regardless, Grande cherished her time on the competition show, saying it “felt so amazing so far being a part of The Voice.”

Grande became so close to fellow The Voice coaches that she went on to release a song with Kelly Clarkson. The song, “Santa Can’t You Hear Me” currently has 3.5M views on YouTube. Grande also performed this song alongside Clarkson on the NBC Christmas special When Christmas Comes Around.

The Voice coaches also appeared together in the premiere of Jimmy Fallon’s spin off show, That’s My Jam.
