Gwen Stefani recently shared her thoughts on returning to The Voice alongside her husband Blake Shelton, explaining that this is the “most relaxed” she’s ever felt on the show. This is the first time Stefani and Shelton have coached together since getting married last year.
Gwen Stefani Says She’s Relaxed on ‘The Voice’ This Season
Stefani and her fellow coaches recently sat down to chat with Today about the upcoming Season 22. The returning coach said she was “a little bit nervous” about coming back, but she felt better about things once the season started filming.
“I don’t know why I was nervous, but as soon as I walked on set, it felt very nostalgic, like when I met him and then it just was, like, easy,” Stefani said, adding that new coach Camila Cabello and returning coach John Legend also helped put her at ease. “This season, for me, has probably been my most relaxed season.”
Stefani last appeared as a coach on the show in Season 19, after coaching on and off since Season 7. She ended up winning her most recent season with artist Carter Rubin. That was Stefani’s first and only win, but she’s hoping to change that this season.

Stefani, Shelton Have ‘So Much Fun’ Together
During the Today interview, Stefani also called Shelton her “bestie” and said they “have so much fun together.” Shelton agreed, saying they “do have a ton of fun together.” The couple met on the show in 2014 and got married last July.
Stefani recently made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry alongside Shelton, singing their duets “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere.” Shelton posted on Twitter that he was “beside himself” over the milestone, as Stefani earned two standing ovations.
As for whether their marriage will affect how competitive they are, fellow coach John Legend said last month that he thinks Stefani’s presence has “softened” Shelton. We’ll see if that proves true when Season 22 of The Voice premieres Monday, September 19 on NBC.
