Tyson Beckford Says He Didn’t Expect to Be Eliminated from ‘DWTS’

Tyson Beckford and Jenna Johnson sat down with Good Morning America on Wednesday morning after their elimination from Dancing with the Stars. Beckford said he wasn’t expecting to go home following his Foxtrot.
Tyson Beckford, Jenna Johnson React to DWTS Elimination
On Tuesday night’s show, Beckford and Johnson danced a Foxtrot to “Master Blaster (Jammin’)” by Stevie Wonder. Their performance earned a score of 20 out of 40 from the judges, including guest judge Michael Strahan.
Strahan interviewed the pair for Wednesday’s GMA, as Beckford shared that he was “very surprised to go home so soon.” The model explained that he had “seen so many other people make so many bigger mistakes.”
“I got my foot not in the right place, and then got back on beat, and we finished on time. The tempo and everything was good,” Beckford said of his performance with Johnson. “So I didn’t think that it was that bad. And then we watched it back, and you don’t see it on camera.”
Beckford said he was hoping the viewers at home didn’t notice the mistake. The star received the lowest combined judges’ score of the night, but that doesn’t always guarantee elimination. Last week’s eliminated star Jamie Lynn Spears is proof of that.

Jenna Johnson Will Be Rooting for Husband Val Chmerkovskiy
Johnson spoke positively about her time dancing with Beckford, saying she was surprised by what a “lively, goofy, fun person” he is. Meanwhile, Beckford shared that he has “such respect for ballroom dancing” after his experience on the show.
Now that she’s been eliminated from the competition, Johnson said she will be rooting for her husband Val Chmerkovskiy and his partner Xochitl Gomez. She also said she’s hoping to bring their baby son Rome to the show’s set.
“Let’s get him a Mirrorball. I think he has a strong chance,” Johnson said of her husband. Beckford asked that their fans start voting for Chmerkovskiy going forward.
