Tyson Beckford is more than ready to shine on the dance floor. The supermodel has ended the chase and finally gave in to Dancing With The Stars’ offer. He is now officially a part of the Season 32 cast as a celebrity contestant.

It will be no surprise if Beckford becomes one of the fan-favorites this upcoming DWTS season. Hence, before he hits the ballroom with his suave moves, let’s get to know him better.

Tyson Beckford is an Internationally Acclaimed Male Supermodel

As a supermodel, Beckford is the face of Ralph Lauren’s Polo and Polo Sport lines. He’s also worked with leading international brands such as Pirelli, Ducati, and Mercedes-Benz.

“He has endured, now timeless, distinguished and celebrated for trailblazing a path for all that have come – and will come – behind him. His name is still synonymous with the height of men’s fashion because he smashed barriers across entertainment industries as his popularity ushered in the recognition of Black male beauty in all shades,” his DWTS bio reads.

For DWTS season 32, Beckford is paired with pro Jenna Johnson. The DWTS pro has proudly welcomed him as partner via Instagram.

“I’m so excited to be paired with the legendary TYSON BECKFORD!!!” Johnson wrote.

Clearly, fans cannot wait to see the professional chemistry between Beckford and Johnson. With his promising profile, the supermodel may be the apple of the eyes of both judges and audiences.

He’s Been Asked to Do DWTS Since Season One

During his interview with Good Morning America, Beckford revealed that he’s long been being asked by DWTS to join. Years back, he wasn’t convinced at all. However, his good friend and DWTS host Alfonso Ribeiro managed to persuade him.

“Five, six years ago, he had said to me, ‘You need to do it.’ And I kept procrastinating, putting it off,” he said.

Furthermore, Beckford admitted that the ongoing actors’ strike removed his hesitance to join the show.

“And then when the strike happened for writers and the actors, me being an actor, I just was like, ‘This is the time,'” he said. “I just was like, I’m gonna do it so you can stop chasing me. I’m gonna miss those calls — I’ve been getting them for 31 seasons!”

Despite consistent calls of the DWTS team, Beckford then wasn’t curious enough to actually watch the show. Nonetheless, he stated that he’s interested to see how he will grow through ballroom dancing after weeks of practice.

“Just watching the transformation of people when they get on the show, they look amazing when they get out,” he said. “I love the fact that there’s hard work to get it done; [you] look messy in rehearsal, and then the night of the show, you look so elegant, clean and smooth. I like to work, I like to do the work and get to the finish.”

If you want to witness Beckford’s DWTS journey, be sure to tune in on the competition. The show premieres Tuesday, Sept. 26, on ABC and Disney+.
